Uniondale CDP, Nassau County, NY

Uniondale is a historically significant, unincorporated hamlet in the center of Nassau County, New York. It is a Census Designated Place (CDP) that was essentially cut in half when the three square mile area between Hempstead Tpke and Old Country Rd was re-designated “East Garden City” in census records.

Done without Uniondale community consensus, GUAAC and community leaders and activists worked for years to repeal this East Garden City CDP designation.

In 2017, their efforts paid off when the U.S. Census Bureau agreed to unify Uniondale, rightfully including that three-square-mile area as part of Uniondale CDP.
